 ca 63
Born in Stockholm november 1945, raised in Huvudsta, Solna.
The Agents, my first band, which me and my brother formed 1962.
We were a kind of "The Shadows" type of band,
playing any tune possible to play on guitar without singing.
One favourite song of mine was "South of the border"
I studied to be a technical engineer, and after graduation,
got a job in a drawing office at the public telephone company of Sweden.
This was in the early sixties, -63 -64.
After a year in the military service, something all young men had to do those days,
I was back behind the desk at the drawing office.
Now the year was 1967!
This was the year of changes. For me and a whole lot of others.
The band we had, was now formed into a three piece band, after hearing Jimi Hendrix, Cream, and a lot of other
bands from the UK and the US, our music changed into the "psychedlic" mood.
I was at the office daytime, and doing a lot of gigs in the nights.
Finally October 1967 I said "thank you" to the tele-company, and started my career as a fulltime musician.
Bits of my story you can see beneath...
T-Boones
This is the band of -65 and to -67. A bluesy kind of band. A bit like the Rolling Stones,
with a few own songs and songs from Chuck Berry, Bo Diddley...
T-Boones 1967
Göran Malmberg, Pelle Ekman, Kenny Håkansson
T-Boones 1965

We started as a five piece band, and then in the end only three of us wanted to continue.
Baby Grandmothers
-67-68.
The T-Boones eventually turned in to Baby Grandmothers. We had to get a new bassguitar player,
and so we also changed the name into something more "psychy". The new bassguitarrist´s name is Bella Ferlin.
Baby Grandmothers were supporting Jimi Hendrix on a three day tour in Sweden Januari 1968.
One single release April -68: Being is more than life, Forward rec.
Cd release 2007, Subliminal Sounds. A live recording from club Filips, Stockholm, 1967.
Mecki MarkMen 1968
Bella, Pelle, Mecki, Kenny
Mecki Mark Men
-68-70. Three albums:
Mecki Mark Men - 67, Running in the summernight, -68
released also in US -69 on Mecury
Marathon, - 70, recorded in Chess-studio, Chicago, released by Sonet, Sweden.
Baby Grandmothers together with Mecki Bodemark reformed Mecki Mark Men June -68, after Mecki been
sacking his former constellation.
This band made a three month tour/visit in the US 1970.
Sub-sub for the Birds, Jethro Tull, Paul Butterfield, Grand Funk Railroad, Family Stone...
Recorded "Marathon" in Chess Studios, Chicago.
In early seventies, being one of first guitarrists in Sweden using fuzz box and wah-wah effects, I made some
studio recording sessions with a variety of Swedish artists of that time.
I.e. Bosse Hansson, that made a succesful album based on "Lord of the Ring"-novel.
See some of the albums listed here.
Kebnekajse 1973
Gurra, Kenny, Pelle
Kebnekajse
-70-77. Five albums:
"Resa mot okänt mål", "Journey towards the unknown".
"Kebnekajse",
"Kebnekajse II",
"Ljus från Afrika", "African light".
"Elefantens strävan mot nirvana", "The Elephant struggle for Nirvana".
This group is the result of two bands merging. As the most there were five guitars, two basses, two drummers and one african percussionist.
Albums no.2 and 3 , the music were based on traditional Swedish fiddle music, but played
with electric energy.
Album no.1 is more like hard country style, with a bit of psychedelic touch.
No. 4 we tried to play music from Africa, presented to us by Hassan Bah, our percussion man.
Album 5 is quite a lot inspired by the rockjazz groups of that time, MacLaughlin, Ponty, Chic Corea...
We opened up this group again 2001, and since then we have been doing quite a few shows.
2009 we performed at Sweden Rock Festival, one of the largest heavy metal venues of Northern Europe.
We also released a CD February 2009, the first since 1977, and now we are working on our next, which is
planned for release February 2011.
Dag Vag
-79-81, 88, 89, 90, 92 - 2010. This band arouse in the wave of punk, and therefor is often
taken for a punk band. The music is more like a mix of reggae - high life - rock - pop.
79, 80 and 81 were very intense years, and I had to step off August 81.
Came in again -88, and kept on on and off until July 2010, when I again left.
This band uses alias names, mine was Beno Zeno.
Dag Vag 1980
Beno, Stig, Tage, Zurfarn.
Bills
Boogie Band
-84- and still now and then.
This band kept me alive through the years 1984 until even this day now and then.
It is a basic Blues & Boogie band, which is always sellable at all times.
And it is a great band in its genre, with a great singer, and always a tight band behind.
One album release, "Live and lively in Helsinki", as you might understand,
a live recording, made in a club in Helsinki, Finland. At this point the extraordinary guitarrist
from Finland Jukka Tolonen, were in the band.
This band were on tour ca 200 days a year between -85 and -90. In Sweden, Denmark, Finland and Norway.
Bill o Kenny på Big Ben 2009
Springlekar & Gånglåtar,
After I quit Kebnekajse, 1977, I made an album containing purely s.c. Fiddle music.
No fiddles though, only guitars. Eight more or less distorted guitars, directly in to the mixerboard
and in to the taperecorder. Why I didn´t use more than 8 tracks, was because there were no more tracks on the machine.
The sound is quite unique this way. For bass I used an octavider on the one guitar I then had,
and possibly, I don´t recall it all, a Volume pedal. This album I still do like.
There are a lot of writers of poetry in Sweden, alive and dead, and I have
been searching for lyrics to make music to for a long period of my life. You open a book, full of
poems, the guitar in your hands, and you read through one page after the other. Here and there is a rythmic
poem, possible to sing. That is how this album was made. It is called "Hjärtats gåtbok",
"The hearts book of riddle".
Released 2001.
"Psychedelic Dream" My latest project.
This is a conglomerate, consisting almost whatever my ears have been exposed to
through my years of music. Rolling around in my brain, finally forming into some rounded rocks of now,
that I am trying to digest, and understand.
My musical background is quite mixed. There is a lot of music I love, and too much music I love,
that I haven´t been able to play. In this project I done some of it, as much as my ability allowed me.
A CD of this project is finally produced, and the release date was December 7, 2010.
